MMA H.E.A.T. was at The Palm in Beverly Hills, CA, for a media lunch with UFC Strawweight Michelle Waterson, who talked about her upcoming UFC 229 fight with Felice Herrig. Michelle talks about the skill-set match-up, how she deals with a size disadvantage, what her last win over Cortney Casey meant to her and more. She also talks about the very popular dance video she made with teammate/UFC Bantamweight Holly Holm and potential career in Hollywood.
A karate student since the age of 10, Waterson holds a black belt in American Free Style Karate and has also trained in WuShu, Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, boxing and wrestling. Michelle Waterson rose to fame as a contestant on the Muay Thai-themed Fight Girls reality show on the Oxygen television network. She was also featured as one of the fighters in the MTV/MTV2 reality show Bully Beatdown.
After fighting for various promotions including Strikeforce, Michelle Waterson faced Jessica Penne April 5, 2013 for the Invicta FC Atomweight title. Waterson won the fight via armbar submission in the fourth round. Just over two years after winning the Invicta Atomweight Championship, Michelle Waterson made her UFC promotional debut against Angela Magaña on July 12, 2015, at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale. She won the fight via submission in the third round.
