MMA H.E.A.T.’s Wade Eck caught up with UFC Middleweight Champ Luke Rockhold and got his thoughts on Michael Bisping, Chris Weidman, “Jacare” Souza and the rest of his division. He also found out what Luke thinks of former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum. Luke defends his title at UFC 199 on Saturday, June 4, 2016 inside The Forum in Los Angeles, CA.

    Word of advice , keep you're eye on the belt before you think about private jets and living in the lap of luxury. If you're a dominant champ the sponsors start a knocking on the door with stacks of cash and fighters who are Champs get a lot more dough from the boss.

    he does not seem congruent. it's almost as he wants to be seen as he dies not care or he at ease, but you can tell how reactive he is and always holding him self up. he almost doesn't know how to be hom self. man gotta learn fro the diaz brothers or Connor mcgregor

    He doesn't have the charisma of someone like McGregor. He is far too stoic. What made McGregor so popular and such a draw was his playful attitude and sense of humor in front of the media. McGregor wasn't as interesting when he would give his stone-faced interviews. I get the impression that Rockhold might be kind of a dick outside of his immediate circle.

    I don't know what it is, but there is a subtle element of Luke's personality that keeps him from really having a breakthrough or being accepted as everybody's marketable mainstream darling, despite his success and looks.
    Just from his facial expressions, when he says something, however confident, it doesn't sound like he is internally at ease or casual. It always feels like he has an edge to him. He says things in such a way as if he already had to defend what he said against doubters. It feels like a weird mixture of insecurity & defensive aggression. And even if he proves his doubters wrong, it doesn't quite go away. It's especially visible when he's outside his element, such as in interviews or talkshows. It's almost like everybody expects him to have a Hollywood personality that fits his looks, yet he seems surprisingly awkward at times, which at worst can turn into occassional douchiness, when he wants to sound cool, but doesn't…and the difference between that and what could be is really noticeable when he actually smiles openly for once.
    A really, really weird phenomenon. Nothing too bad, but it's sth that stands in his way to absolute stardom.
