MMA H.E.A.T.’s Karyn Bryant spoke via Skype with seventh-ranked UFC Welterweight Kamaru Usman and heard what he had to say about his upcoming main event fight with Demian Maia, set for May 19th in Santiago, Chile. Kamaru talks about the difficulties he’s faced getting fights in the UFC, the swap in opponents from Santiago Ponzinibbio to former title challenger (and long-ago-requested opponent) Demian Maia and whether or not he’ll actually take the fight to the ground with the legendary #BJJ fighter. Kamaru also talks about his history and rivalry with Colby Covington (13:31), the bond he shares with fellow African fighter Francis NGannou and the pride he feels being entrusted to debut the UFC in Chile.

  1. Great interview, I was very suprised to hear Usman say he thinks he could submit Maia ^___^. Honestly I don't think that is going to happen though anything is possible I guess. He would have a much better chance for a knockout . I am putting my money on Maia by submission. If it goes to a decision then Usman has a good chance probably.

I just love Kamaru, this guy is a beast and will be champion within 2 years or less.

For me he is favorite against the entire division, less Woodley, but just Woodley…

  3. Great interview again from KB & MMA HEAT. I see Kamaru in a slightly better light now. I do wish though you made the interview 30 mins long to coincide with Mr 30% being on the show.
